VACTE STUDENTS ARE PREPARED FOR THE WORKFORCE
Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) Program
OSHA 10 – Healthcare
This 10-hour certification course prepares students for safety in healthcare environments. Training includes Bloodborne Pathogens, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Emergency Procedures, communication skills, personal finance basics, and interview preparation.
CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
Students earn Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification for healthcare providers. This certification is valid for two years and prepares students to perform CPR in both healthcare and non-healthcare settings. CPR certification is a requirement for most healthcare positions, giving students a strong advantage when seeking employment.
CNA Certificate of Completion
Students who complete a minimum of 120 hours of classroom instruction, skills training, and clinical experience receive a CNA Certificate of Completion. To qualify, students must earn a score of 75% or higher on the written final exam and 80% or higher on the skills final. Graduates are then eligible to sit for the Arizona State Board of Nursing (AZBN) examination.
CNA State Certification
Upon passing the AZBN State Certification Examination, students may apply for CNA/LNA licensure through the Arizona State Board of Nursing. This license authorizes graduates to work as Certified Nursing Assistants anywhere CNAs are employed within the State of Arizona.
Phlebotomy Program
Students in the Phlebotomy Program will gain the knowledge and hands-on skills required for safe and effective blood collection in a clinical setting. Upon completion of the course, students are prepared for entry-level employment in phlebotomy.
Program Learning Outcomes:

Define basic terminology and codes related to phlebotomy and laboratory testing

Identify and describe the anatomy and physiology of the hand and arm

Explain how privacy laws and law enforcement impact phlebotomy practices

Collect blood specimens by venipuncture while adhering to OSHA guidelines and laboratory safety procedures

Explain how CLIA and HIPAA regulations affect phlebotomy practices

Describe reporting requirements related to adverse phlebotomy events

Describe and apply standard and universal precautions
-
State the purpose of commonly ordered laboratory tests

Complete a minimum of 40 successful venipuncture blood draws
Career Readiness:
Upon successful completion of the course, students are prepared to seek employment as a Phlebotomy Technician in a variety of healthcare settings.

Upon completion and required testing, students are eligible for licensure through the Arizona Barbering and Cosmetology Board, earning a Hairstyling License and entering the workforce prepared and credentialed.

The Construction Program equips students with essential safety knowledge and hands-on skills to work responsibly on construction sites. Students learn to identify common hazards, properly use PPE, and follow OSHA regulations.
These industry-recognized certifications help students feel confident and prepared on their first day of work, reducing workplace risks and making them valuable, safety-conscious employees.

Program Overview
This course introduces students to the foundational and advanced skills needed for careers in Law Enforcement and Emergency Telecommunications. Instruction includes law enforcement history and theory, leadership and administration, labor relations, incident response strategies, legal responsibilities, correctional skills, and emergency dispatch operations.
Hands-on practice and real-life scenario training prepare students for both field and dispatch roles.
